Mothers Helpers
There are a variety of programmes available if you’re struggling. Group therapy sessions, antenatal parenting courses, counselling and support for fathers.
Pada NZ
If you or someone you know is struggling, PADA provides local support and informative fact sheets. You can also use the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale to measure your own levels of anxiety.
Plunket
Enrolling your child with Plunket will give you access to free health checks, parenting education, cultural preservation and 24/7 support.
Breastfeeding Support
La Leche League provide free group training sessions to provide information and support for breastfeeding. There are groups all across Auckland. If meetings in person aren’t an option for you, they provide online sessions for free.
Premature Baby
If your baby was born before 37 weeks gestation or has been staying in the NICU or Special Baby Unit there is support specifically for you. The Little Miracles Trust providing practical, emotional support and care packs. They host support groups with occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
Fathers with PND
Post-natal depression can affect fathers too, which is where Kidz Need Dadz can help. Providing support for dads, parenting courses, group support and mediation for those experiencing a separation.
Free Food Deliveries
Bellyful provides nourishing meals for families with newborns and young children who are in need of help. If you or someone you know is struggling, is unwell or has experienced a loss, you can fill out the referral form online.
Well Child Tamariki Ora
Sign up online when your baby is born, so that once your midwife stops visiting your support does not end. Well Child Tamariki Ora provide free professional checks on your mental, emotional and physical well-being. They also provide growth and development checks, immunisation information and safety advice.
